Sanford Health podcasts have earned five MarCom Awards, including three of the top prizes in the 2024 competition.
Judges with the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals have awarded Sanford Health three MarCom Platinum Awards: one for the podcast series “Family Portraits,” and two more for episodes within the same series.
MarCom’s Platinum Award is presented to those entries judged to be among the most outstanding entries in the competition. Platinum winners are recognized for their excellence in quality, creativity and resourcefulness.
“Family Portraits” explores the many ways people come together to become a family – and the obstacles and triumphs they encounter along the way. Listeners hear true stories from Sanford Health patients as they talk about the ways that becoming a family challenged them, changed them, and brought them joy.
In one award-winning episode, Nikki and Polly Gill tell the story of their journey from IVF to the NICU with their baby Theo. In another, Alli Harrison shares how her experience of pregnancy loss led to policy change at work.
Sanford Health earned five MarCom Awards this year:
- Platinum: “Family Portraits,” medical podcast series
- Platinum: “Same-sex couple shares their emotional pregnancy journey,” medical podcast episode
- Platinum: “Fertility nurse inspires change after own miscarriages,” medical podcast episode
- Gold: “Stadium announcer loses speech, recovers from stroke,” medical podcast episode
- Honorable Mention: “Reasons you may not be enjoying sex,” medical podcast episode
“Many of these podcasts feature powerful patient testimonials, and I’m proud of the time and effort our teams put in to honor their stories and their caregivers,” said Colette Manning, vice president, brand marketing and operations for Sanford Health. “Sanford Health pledges to care for all, and these pieces do a great job of reflecting that pledge.”
In 2023, Sanford Health earned two MarCom Awards: Gold for the podcast series “Reimagining Rural Health” and an Honorable Mention for the podcast episode “Virtual clinic shortens distance to health care.”
The MarCom Awards are a creative competition for any individual or company involved in the concept, writing and design of print, visual, audio, and web materials and programs.
MarCom is administered by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals, an international organization founded in 1995. Since its inception in 2004, MarCom has become one of the largest and most-respected creative competitions in the world with about 6,500 entries submitted each year.
The mission of the MarCom Awards is to honor excellence and recognize the creativity, hard work and generosity of marketing and communication professionals.
