The Sanford Health News team is adding six new Upper Midwest Emmy nominations in 2026, the most Emmy nominations this team has earned in a single year.
This brings Sanford Health News to 16 Emmy nominations and one win in six years.
This year’s nominees from Sanford Health News are:
In Health/Medical – Short or Long Form Content,

In Military – Short or Long Form Content,
- “A final salute.” Matt Holsen – Producer, Lonnie Nichols – Videographer.
- “Service in a new uniform.” Matt Holsen – Producer, Lonnie Nichols – Videographer.
In Writer – Short or Long Form Content,
- “Fight in Faith.” David Brown – Writer.
In Solo Storyteller – Short or Long Form Content,
- “Feeding tubes and found family.” Jason Anschutz – Solo Storyteller. This entry is a compilation of three stories:
- “The heart of patient care.” Simon Floss – Solo Storyteller. This entry is a compilation of four stories:
Regional Emmy Award recipients will be announced at a ceremony Oct. 17 in Bloomington, Minnesota.

In 2023, SHN brought home its first Regional Emmy in the military content category with “Veterans, college students revive broken down ‘cool bus.’”
Previously, the team has earned nominations in the categories of health and medical content, arts and entertainment, branded content, military content, solo storyteller, and sports story.
The Upper Midwest Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences is a membership organization dedicated to excellence in video and television by honoring exceptional work, past and present; providing professional development and outreach; and nurturing the next generation of television professionals.
The Upper Midwest Chapter, based in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, represents professionals in local television and media production from North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, and western Wisconsin.
