The evolution of improving population health, increasing access to care, and leveraging data for a personalized patient experience were some of the topics of focus for Sanford Health Plan leaders during a series of panels and roundtable discussions at the Becker’s Payer Issues Roundtable.
Sanford Health Plan’s John Snyder, president and CEO, and Emily Griese, Ph.D., chief operating and population health officer, joined fellow executives from the nation’s top health systems and insurance companies.
Sanford Health News caught up with both leaders during the two-day April event in Chicago.
“I think one of the most important things is member engagement,” Snyder said.
Snyder speaks to digital enablers—like apps to help members manage their chronic diseases—as one of the greatest opportunities to influence better health outcomes.
“The only way to improve outcomes is by behavior change. If we can’t influence people’s behavior, they won’t be successful in their outcomes.” John Snyder
Additionally, he said trust plays a big role, as members and patients value relationships with their doctors and their health system which points to the value of an integrated system like Sanford Health to help guide them through every stage of their care journey.
Sanford Health Plan joined five other Sanford leaders among the top health systems at the event.
