The Sanford USD Medical Center has been named one of the top 100 hospitals for gastrointestinal care by Healthgrades, a leading health care comparison website.
Sanford Health is the only hospital in South Dakota to receive the award and joins the ranks of other hospitals honored including the Mayo Clinic, Kaiser Permanente, the University of Chicago, Barnes Jewish and more.
Each of the top 100 hospitals was evaluated based on clinical quality outcomes and relevant data. The award recognizes facilities with superior patient outcomes in colorectal surgeries, gallbladder removal, upper gastrointestinal surgery, treating bowel obstruction, gastrointestinal bleeds and pancreatitis.
“This honor is a testament to the work of our dedicated team who always put their patients first and are devoted to delivering the highest quality of care,” said Paul Hanson, MHA, FACHE, president and CEO of Sanford Sioux Falls. “We are proud that our GI patients do not have to travel to receive the best care in the country, and it is going to continue to get even better.”
In 2022, Sanford Health broke ground on the 45,000 square foot Sanford Digestive Health Center in the $60 million Medical Building 1 renovation. The Center, set to open in spring 2024, will change the landscape of digestive health in the Midwest, taking clinical care to new heights and offering top-of-the-line digestive services for generations to come.
