The Sanford Health News team is adding two new Upper Midwest Emmy nominations to its list of eight over the past four years.
Multimedia journalist Jason Anschutz is nominated in the Solo Storyteller – Short Form Content category. This is the first nomination at Sanford Health for the MMJ based in Fargo, North Dakota.
The entry submitted features multiple stories Anschutz shot, wrote, voiced and edited himself including:
- “MoMo twins bring two Bismarck families together at Sanford,” about monochorionic monoamniotic twins receiving NICU care near home thanks to another family’s gift.
- “BSU football player, trainers share bond after spinal injury,” featuring a player turned coach walking the sidelines with trainers who cared for him one season after temporary paralysis.
- “Brotherhood of veterans serves at Sanford AirMed,” about military veterans sharing a special bond in the Bismarck rotary wing hangar.
SHN manager Matt Holsen and lead photo and video specialist Lonnie Nichols are also nominated for Outstanding Sports Story – Short or Long Form Content. This is the duo’s seventh story nomination at Sanford Health.
- “Jackrabbit junior completes cheer comeback after amputation,” about a student at South Dakota State returning to cheer after a rare condition led to a life-altering diagnosis.
Award recipients will be announced at a ceremony Oct. 19 in Prior Lake, Minnesota.
In 2023, SHN brought home its first regional Emmy in the Military – Short/Long Form Content category with “Veterans, college students revive broken down ‘cool bus.’”
The Upper Midwest Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences is a membership organization dedicated to excellence in video and television by honoring exceptional work, past and present; providing professional development and outreach; and nurturing the next generation of television professionals.
The Upper Midwest Chapter, based in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, represents professionals in local television and media production from Minnesota, Iowa, western Wisconsin, North Dakota and South Dakota.
