Sanford Health to help develop future Olympians

The Sanford Sports Science Institute has collaborated with the National Scholastic Athletic Foundation to become the non-profit organization’s exclusive national sports medicine research partner.

The National Scholastic Athletic Foundation is one of the driving forces behind grassroots track and field and cross country in the United States. The NSAF promotes and develops American high school, youth- and junior-age track and field athletes at the highest level with the goal of identifying and developing future Olympians. One of the ongoing goals of the NSAF is to foster future Olympic and world championship medalists through Project Javelin Gold and Project Triple Jump.

Through this five-year collaboration, Sanford Health will conduct research in conjunction with the NSAF to help with the development of future Olympic hopefuls and improve the health, safety and performance of all NSAF athletes.

The Sanford Sports Science Institute staff will attend all major NSAF events, starting with the New Balance National Outdoors June 16-18 in Greensboro, North Carolina, where more than 5,000 athletes will participate.

Sanford Health will have the opportunity to host NSAF Performance Clinics. The first clinic will be August 10-13 at Howard Wood Field in Sioux Falls, including both Project Javelin and Triple Jump athletes. Premier athletes and coaches from across the country will attend. Local athletes and coaches will have an opportunity to participate in these events.
