Sanford Health CEO to be inducted into SD Hall of Fame

CHAMBERLAIN, S.D. — Sanford Health President and CEO Kelby Krabbenhoft will be inducted into the South Dakota Hall of Fame Sept. 8-9 in Chamberlain for his contributions to the medical field in the state.

Under his leadership over the past 20 years, Sanford Health has grown into a rural health system with 45 hospitals and 289 clinics spanning nine states and four countries. With more than 28,000 employees, Sanford Health is the largest employer in the Dakotas. It has helped fund global children’s clinics, multiple research centers, and research to cure for type 1 diabetes and breast cancer.

Krabbenhoft developed training/sports complexes that host numerous youth and adult amateur and professional events in football, basketball, volleyball, soccer, baseball, softball, hockey and tennis. He also led the investment in enhancing South Dakota’s NCAA Division 1 facilities at South Dakota State University and the University of South Dakota. And through donations and contributions, the health system gives back to communities.

Krabbenhoft has also served on professional and community boards and in local, state and national leadership roles with several associations, including the Governor’s Healthcare Advisory Committee, University of South Dakota Foundation, Kirby Science Center, Sioux Empire United Way and Sioux Falls Development Foundation.
