New program will empower families to make healthy choices

Introducing Sanford Fit — nutritional, physical, emotional & behavioral health

WebMD, the leading provider of health information services, and Sanford Health, the largest not-for-profit rural health care provider in the United States, have teamed up to develop a comprehensive suite of resources that will empower children and parents to make healthy lifestyles choices that help prevent childhood obesity.

The fit platform was developed using a combination of the latest scientific and behavioral research designed to educate, motivate, and inspire children of all ages to live a balanced, healthy lifestyle. There are four pillars to the fit platform:

  • FOOD: Nutritional Fitness
  • MOVE: Physical Fitness
  • MOOD: Emotional Fitness
  • RECHARGE: Behavioral Fitness

Three new children’s destinations have been created, each tailored to the interests and needs of the following age groups:

  • fit Junior: Ages 2-7
  • fit Kids: Ages 8-12
  • fit Teens: Ages 13-19

The companies have also developed a complimentary fit destination for parents on WebMD.com called Raising fit Kids, to help parents become more informed about what they can do to maintain a healthy household and help their children be healthy.
