The Sanford Health News team is adding two new Upper Midwest Emmy nominations, totaling 10 nominations in five years.
Nominated for excellence in health and medical content is “From the medical field to hay fields” by Jason Anschutz, video by Don McLeer, Travis Jensen and Lonnie Nichols. The story follows Dr. Elizabeth Brown, a Sanford Health OB/GYN, for a day in her life as a rural doctor and farmer.
Nominated for excellence in military content is “Veteran’s cancer battle” by Matt Holsen, video by Lonnie Nichols. Paul Weckman, a retired Navy captain and head of Sanford Health military and veteran affairs, shares his own cancer journey while raising funds and awareness of cancers affecting veterans.
Regional Emmy Award recipients will be announced at a ceremony Oct. 18 in Prior Lake, Minnesota.
In 2023, SHN brought home its first Regional Emmy in the military content category with “Veterans, college students revive broken down ‘cool bus.’”
This is the first time Sanford Health has been nominated in the health and medical content category. Previously, the team has earned nominations in the categories of solo storyteller, sports story, arts and entertainment, branded content, and military content.
The Upper Midwest Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences is a membership organization dedicated to excellence in video and television by honoring exceptional work, past and present; providing professional development and outreach; and nurturing the next generation of television professionals.
The Upper Midwest Chapter, based in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, represents professionals in local television and media production from North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, and western Wisconsin.
