Profile by Sanford, the comprehensive weight-management program developed by Sanford Health, is expanding to western South Dakota with a franchise location in Rapid City.
Scheduled to open in April at 715 Omaha St., the project is a partnership among franchisee James Bertus, M.D.; Sanford Health; and Regional Health. It’s Profile’s first location west of the Missouri River in South Dakota and first collaboration involving another health system.
Bertus is an anesthesiologist at Nebraska Pain Management Physicians and Norfolk Anesthesia Partners. He will maintain his medical practice in Norfolk.
“I’m a physician, and my passion is building one-on-one relationships that give people the opportunity to live healthy, full lives,” Bertus said. “Profile by Sanford combines years of research into a model that I believe can make a difference in people’s lives and I am excited to be a part of bringing Profile to Rapid City.”
Profile is headquartered in Sioux Falls and has nearly 30 locations in 10 states, including franchise stores in Omaha, Nebraska; Lincoln, Nebraska; and Sioux City, Iowa. It opened its first location in 2012 and has helped members lose 1.25 million pounds.
The Profile program was designed using a large body of clinical research to provide individuals with a simple, effective and sustainable weight-loss solution. An advisory board comprised of Sanford Health physicians and researchers oversee the continued development of Profile. Sanford Health is one of the largest health systems in the country.
“Rapid City represents an opportunity to share the Profile lifestyle,” said Nate Malloy, vice president of Profile. “Members are empowered to improve their overall health and well-being through an evidence-based, sustainable program.”
Profile by Sanford combines nutrition, activity and lifestyle coaching to encourage healthy weight loss and lasting behavior change. A member’s personalized plan includes nutritious Profile food and healthy grocery options. Profile offers a diverse line of food options, including pastas, soups, pizzas, salad dressings and entrees. Each Profile member receives a Profile Smart Body Scale that provides wireless, real-time progress monitoring through web and mobile applications.
