New COVID-19 vaccine available at Sanford Health

Updated monovalent vaccine targets variants of virus for 2023-24 season

New COVID-19 vaccine available at Sanford Health

Sanford Health is now administering the new monovalent COVID-19 vaccine labeled the “2023-2024 COVID-19 vaccine,” which targets the omicron variant XBB.1.5. This vaccine replaces the most recent bivalent COVID vaccine that came out in 2022.

While new COVID-19 strains circulate, the 2023-2024 COVID-19 vaccine is expected to provide cross-protection this respiratory illness season.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends everyone 6 months and older receive the updated COVID-19 vaccine if it’s been at least two months since their most recent dose.

Several Sanford clinics are now administering the 2023-2024 COVID-19 vaccine.

There is a limited number of vaccines available at this time. Patients should call their primary care provider’s clinic to learn about vaccine availability and schedule an appointment. Appointments can also be scheduled through the My Sanford Chart app.

COVID-19 and flu vaccine

Sanford Health also is administering influenza vaccine for patients 6 months and older at several of its clinic locations.

A flu vaccine at Sanford Health can protect the public from getting sick and protect the people around them. The CDC recommends annual flu vaccines for everyone 6 months and older, especially those at higher risk of complications including pregnant women, older adults and young children.

Several Sanford clinic locations will be holding individual flu vaccine events or drive-thru flu vaccine events. Find an event near you at

The RSV vaccine/immunization will be available at Sanford clinics in the coming weeks. More information on these preventive options will be shared at a later date.
