For the fourth consecutive year, U.S. News & World Report’s Best Hospitals for 2024-2025 ranked Sanford Medical Center Fargo the No. 1 hospital in North Dakota and Sanford USD Medical Center the No. 1 hospital in South Dakota.
The annual U.S. News & World Report rankings are published to help patients decide where to receive care. U.S. News evaluates data on nearly 5,000 hospitals in 15 adult specialties and 21 adult procedures and conditions.
Sanford USD Medical Center received high-performing rankings in two adult specialty areas, including gastroenterology and gastroenterology surgery as well as urology. Sanford USD Medical Center ranks as one of the top in the nation when comparing those specialty services with health care systems across the country.
“This recognition reaffirms what I already know, which is how fortunate we are to have an incredible team of caregivers we have who go above and beyond in providing quality health care to our patients,” said Paul Hanson, president and CEO of Sanford USD Medical Center. “In addition, this past year we became the lone certified Level 1 trauma center in South Dakota and, earlier this month, we opened a new building which will house our digestive health services and the first gastroenterology fellowship in the Dakotas. Earning this ranking four consecutive years is an honor and a true testament to the high-quality care we deliver to our patients.”
Sanford USD Medical Center is also rated high-performing in 10 procedures and conditions, including leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma, colon cancer surgery, prostate cancer surgery, abdominal aortic aneurysm repair, heart bypass surgery, kidney failure, hip replacement, knee replacement, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and pneumonia.
Sanford Medical Center Fargo is rated high-performing in 11 procedures and specialties, including leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma, colon cancer surgery, prostate cancer surgery, abdominal aortic aneurysm repair, heart bypass surgery, heart failure, kidney failure, stroke, knee replacement, COPD and pneumonia.
