Bismarck registered nurse Marilyn Schwartzbauer was recently presented the Legendary Nurse Award for Clinical Practice Excellence from the North Dakota Center for Nursing. The award recognizes nurses who consistently demonstrate exceptional clinical practice or patient care.
“It’s a great honor,” said Schwartzbauer upon receiving the award. “I see a lot of nurses win this award and I never thought it would be me.”
Schwartzbauer was recognized for her more than 46 years working as a nurse at Sanford Health. She currently works in the intensive care unit at the Sanford Medical Center – Bismarck, is active with the Nurses Association and serves as a mentor for the North Dakota State University health care professions cohort.
“Marilyn is known by many of our nurses for her wealth of knowledge. She has a strong work ethic and is very dedicated to nursing practice,” said Wendy Kopp, vice president of nursing for Sanford Health in Bismarck. “Her contributions to the department as well as her commitment to patients serve as an example to younger nurses.”
Schwartzbauer is one of 19 nurses statewide who received a Legendary Nurse Award.
The Legendary Nurse Awards began in 2015 to honor exemplary nurses across the Legendary State of North Dakota. With over 20,000 nurses statewide, nurses form the backbone of the health care system and are a vital part of many different settings as reflected by each year’s award winners.
