Newsweek has named Good Samaritan Society – Ambassador to its list of America’s Best Nursing Homes for 2026. One of 12 Minnesota facilities to make the list, the New Hope location holds a 5-star rating from Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and is a current American Healthcare Association/National Center for Assisted Living Silver – Achievement in Quality Award recipient.
The top nursing homes in each state were assessed and ranked based on four pillars including performance data, peer recommendations, accreditations and resident satisfaction, with performance data carrying an increased weight in 2026 to reflect the growing emphasis on clinical quality metrics, including the addition of vaccination rates.
Good Samaritan Society – Ambassador provides around-the-clock care to 75 residents daily. Its services include skilled nursing care, inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation therapy, long-term care and assisted living.
“Being recognized as one of the nation’s top nursing homes is a testament to the skilled and dedicated caregivers at Good Samaritan Society – Ambassador,” said Sharon Thole, Good Samaritan vice president of operations. “We take seriously the responsibility we have to serve Minnesota’s older adults, and this recognition reflects the investments we’ve made to continuously elevate the quality of care we provide.”
According to the Department of Health and Human Services, there are more than 15,000 Medicare- or Medicaid-certified nursing homes in the United States, serving roughly 1.2 million residents. This year’s list recognizes 1,200 nursing homes across 33 states with the highest number of facilities, according to CMS data.
“For nearly 50 years, Good Samaritan Society – Ambassador has had the privilege of caring for and serving seniors in our community,” said Anna Minske, Good Samaritan Society – Ambassador administrator. “Our team members bring their whole selves to work every day, not only caring for our residents physically but also mentally and spiritually. The relationships they form are deeper than just staff member and resident – it’s family.”
Good Samaritan’s 2024 National Caregiver of the Year was awarded to a certified nursing assistant from Good Samaritan Society – Ambassador.
