Sanford POWER to hold USA Weightlifting combine

BISMARCK, N.D. –- Sanford POWER in Bismarck, North Dakota, has been chosen as one of 28 locations across the United States to host the 2018-2019 USA Weightlifting (USAW) combine series. The USAW combine will be at Sanford POWER from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on March 2, 2019. It is the latest recruitment project aiming to find weightlifting’s next Olympic hopeful and is open to athletes between the ages of 12 and 24.

“We have very talented athletes in North Dakota and this is a once in a lifetime opportunity for them to participate in a USA Weightlifting sanctioned event,” said Mike Salwei, executive director of orthopedics and sports medicine at Sanford Health in Bismarck. “Sanford POWER works with athletes every day to prepare them for an opportunity like this. It’s very exciting to have the USA Weightlifting combine come to Bismarck.”

Each combine will include the following events:
•  30m sprint
•  Vertical jump
•  Triple hop
•  Power clean
•  Back squat
