This scholarship opportunity is important to Sanford Health and its mission of fostering a culture where diversity in thought, skill and background are not only accepted, but also recognized as a key strength and celebrated.
Award recipients must demonstrate exceptional character and leadership in furthering their own progress and in enriching the lives of others, especially in service, academics, and community involvement and impact.
According to studies, more than half of current college students can be considered first-generation students. As college demographics have shifted in recent years, a similar 46% of students can be classified as non-traditional.
Diversity in education and employment has many important advantages. A variety of backgrounds and life experiences benefits all learners and enhances education. In addition, it aligns with Sanford’s culture, which includes a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion as we draw upon and enhance the talents and experiences of the diverse employees and communities we serve.
Sanford Health has many other scholarships currently available.
That includes the Sanford Health Military and Veteran Scholarship. Applications are open for five $5,000 scholarships awarded annually to veterans, Guard/Reserve members or active duty military service members who have demonstrated leadership and commitment in their community.
