Sanford Health to host NSAF performance clinics

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Sanford Sports Science Institute and the National Scholastic Athletic Foundation will host performance clinics and testing Aug. 9-12 in Sioux Falls. The testing will take place at the Sanford Pentagon and Sanford Fieldhouse with performance clinics for athletes and coaches taking place at Howard Wood Field.

This is the second year the testing and clinics will take place in Sioux Falls. Last year, Sanford Health began its partnership with the NSAF to become the non-profit organization’s exclusive national sports medicine research partner.

Through this five-year collaboration, Sanford Health will conduct research in conjunction with the NSAF to help with the development of future Olympic hopefuls and improve the health, safety and performance of all NSAF athletes. The partnership will last through 2021.

The performance clinics will provide instruction for javelin and triple jump athletes and coaches. Premier athletes and coaches from across the country will attend, including six-time U.S. champion and two-time Olympian Tom Pukstys (javelin) and Olympic gold medalist and world champion Kenny Harrison (triple jump).

The cost of each clinic is $175. Additional charges will apply to athletes wishing to undergo performance testing at the Pentagon and Fieldhouse. Call 605-312-7800 for information about those services.
