Sanford Regional Hospital Worthington fully integrated

Sanford Health announced today the full integration of Sanford Regional Hospital Worthington, formerly named Worthington Regional Hospital. The Worthington City Council approved the sale of the hospital to Sanford Health in January. The sale became final on July 1.

“We are so excited to officially welcome Sanford Regional Hospital Worthington to the family,” said Becky Nelson, Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Sanford Health. “The staff here is already providing outstanding care to patients in the Worthington area. This new relationship will provide even greater opportunity to add additional services locally and offer even more care close to home – a guiding principle of Sanford Health.”

Sanford Regional Hospital Worthington joins the 10,000 employee-strong Sanford Health system consisting of 23 hospitals, 115 clinics, and nearly 380 physicians covering 80,000 square miles in South Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa and Nebraska. Sanford Regional Hospital Worthington has had formal partnership with Sanford Health since 1996.

In honor of the rich history of the hospital, a community celebration was organized by Sanford Health for July 1 at Pioneer Village in Worthington. Activities included a free meal, along with music, inflatables and other entertainment.
