April is Donate Life Month, a time to raise the profile of organ, eye and tissue donation, and the role they can have in improving and saving lives. Numerous events are scheduled as part of the effort, including a very visible display at the namesake of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, home to Sanford Health headquarters.
On Friday, April 13, the quartzite waterfalls at Falls Park will be lit blue and green in honor of Donate Life Month.
People everywhere are also encouraged to wear blue and green that day and take part in other activities to promote the need for registered donors.
In addition to sponsoring the lighting, Sanford Health is holding several events in April to encourage its patients and 28,000 employees to sign up to be a donor, if they haven’t already:
- Bemidji, Minnesota
- Bismarck, North Dakota
- Fargo, North Dakota
- Sioux Falls
