SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Newsweek has named the Sanford USD Medical Center, located in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, to its list of World’s Best Hospitals for 2025. Sanford Health is ranked No. 54 out of 412 hospitals in the United States on the list.

The Sanford USD Medical Center shares inclusion on the list’s top 100 hospitals with world-class health care organizations such as Mayo Clinic, Cleveland Clinic, Johns Hopkins Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital.

According to Newsweek, the ranking is based on an extensive evaluation process, including an online survey of thousands of medical experts (doctors, hospital managers and health care professionals), patient experience data, hospital quality metrics and a PROMs Implementation Survey. Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) are defined as standardized, validated questionnaires completed by patients to measure their perception of their functional well-being and quality of life.

“I am incredibly proud of every employee at the Sanford USD Medical Center for their part in achieving this recognition – each person plays a significant role in the health care experience of our patients and their families and visitors,” said Andy Munce, interim president and CEO of Sanford Sioux Falls. “This honor is validation of the expert care we provide and the satisfaction of the patients we have the privileging of caring for.”

The Sanford USD Medical Center is the only Level I Adult and Level II Pediatric Trauma Center in South Dakota verified by the American College of Surgeons. It is the largest hospital in South Dakota as well as a teaching hospital for the University of South Dakota Sanford School of Medicine.

With 545 beds and 4,000 employees, the Sanford USD Medical Center’s comprehensive care includes emergency air transport, neonatal and pediatric intensive care, transplant services and specialty centers in children’s care, heart, cancer, neuroscience, sports medicine and women’s health.
