SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — Tommy Ibrahim, M.D., executive vice president, president and CEO of Sanford Health Plan, will share insights on the health plan’s journey and growth in Medicare Advantage (MA) at the Alliance of Community Health Plans (ACHP) conference June 10 in Chicago.
Ibrahim will join the panel, CEO Perspective: Succeeding in MA Against the Goliaths, with Ceci Connolly, president and CEO of Alliance of Community Health Plans and Mary Beth Jenkins, president and CEO of UPMC Health Plan.
While three national MA plans comprise more than 75-percent of the MA market, this panel will focus on how regional health plans, like Sanford Health Plan, are leveraging provider integration to offer a high-touch experience and better value for members. Sanford Health Plan’s Medicare Advantage plan is among the highest-rated MA plans in the nation, earning a 4.5-star rating from CMS for the second consecutive year, a reflection of member satisfaction.
“What sets us apart from large national Medicare Advantage plans is our integrated approach, which is only possible as a nonprofit provider-aligned health plan. This means our members benefit from seamless coordination of care, a personalized experience and a focus on preventive health,” said Ibrahim. “As part of an integrated system, we are uniquely positioned to provide streamlined care and coverage, drive better health outcomes and improve affordability for members.”
Sanford Health’s merger with Marshfield Clinic Health System, finalized in January 2025, brings together an integrated health plan consisting of Sanford Health Plan and Security Health Plan, covering nearly 425,000 plan members.
A board-certified hospitalist, Ibrahim received his Doctor of Medicine degree from St. Christopher’s IMD College of Medicine and completed his internal medicine residency at Greater Baltimore Medical Center, an academic affiliate of Johns Hopkins. He holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Columbia University, a Master of Healthcare Administration degree from Seton Hall University and is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and a Fellow in Hospital Medicine.
