FARGO, N.D.Sanford Medical Center Fargo has been recognized as a Blue Distinction Center+ for maternity care by the Blue Cross Blue Shield.

According to Blue Cross Blue Shield, Blue Distinction Centers (BDC) and Blue Distinction Centers+ (BDC+) for maternity care demonstrate expertise and a commitment to quality care for vaginal and cesarean section deliveries. These centers demonstrate better overall patient satisfaction and a lower percentage of early elective deliveries.

“We are honored to be recognized as a Blue Distinction Center+ for maternity care. This national designation speaks to our dedication of supporting our patients through every stage of their pregnancy, from planning to postpartum,” said Jessica Aguilar, Sanford Health System Executive Director of Operations, Health Services Division. “Patients can trust that the maternity care they receive at Sanford Health will be of the utmost quality.”

The BDC for maternity care program evaluates healthcare facilities that offer maternity services for adult patients 18-years or older and recognizes facilities between two levels of designation. BDC facilities are recognized for their expertise in delivery specialty care while BDC+ facilities are recognized for their expertise and cost-efficiency in delivering specialty care.
