BISMARCK, N.D. (Feb. 10, 2022) — For a limited time, Sanford Health is offering discounted heart screenings to patients in the Bismarck-Mandan area.

Every February, Sanford Health celebrates American Heart Month by motivating Americans to adopt healthy lifestyles to prevent heart disease. Sanford is offering heart screenings in Bismarck for just $25 to patients who schedule an appointment now through April 15.

Heart screenings are recommended for postmenopausal women and individuals 40 to 75 with the following risk factors:

“Heart disease continues to be the leading cause of death in Americans,” says Dragos Balf, MD, cardiologist at Sanford Health in Bismarck. “Our heart screening program can help bring awareness and allows people to be educated about their risk factors for developing heart disease. Prevention screenings can help people live a productive and healthy lifestyle.”

A heart screening consists of a lipid panel blood draw, height and weight to calculate BMI, blood pressure, EKG, and a Framingham score. The Framingham score estimates the risk of developing heart disease within the next 10 years. If the patient is found to be at a high risk of developing heart disease, then a CT scan of the heart is performed to examine calcium in the coronary arteries.

Heart screenings are offered within Sanford Clinic, located at 222 N. Seventh St, Bismarck. To schedule a screening call 701-323-5202.

The fee must be paid directly by patients and is not covered by insurance.

The Sanford Bismarck region provides health care to central and western North Dakota, eastern Montana and northern South Dakota. It includes 21 clinics in Bismarck, Mandan, Minot, Dickinson and Watford City, as well as a Level II trauma center located in Bismarck.
