FARGO, N.D. – Sanford Ambulance will host “Save a Life” Saturday, Feb. 10, from noon to 5 p.m. at the West Acres Mall in the Macy’s wing. The event is a community education initiative aimed at equipping individuals with life-saving skills.
Hands-only CPR is a simplified form of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) that focuses on chest compressions without mouth-to-mouth ventilation. This technique is easy to learn and has been proven to be just as effective as traditional CPR in many cases. By initiating hands-only CPR before professional help arrives, bystanders can significantly increase the chances of survival for individuals experiencing cardiac arrest.
In addition to CPR training, the event will also cover “Stop the Bleed,” a national awareness campaign aimed at teaching individuals how to control severe bleeding. Uncontrolled bleeding can lead to life-threatening situations, and knowing how to stop the bleed promptly can be crucial in saving a life.
“In emergencies, every second counts, and having the knowledge and skills to respond effectively can make all the difference,” says Kristi Engelstad, Sanford Ambulance, clinical learning and development specialist. “This event will empower participants with the ability to intervene swiftly in critical situations.”
