President of clinic to speak at United Nations health forum

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Oct. 25, 2022) — Luis Garcia, M.D., FACS, MBA, president of clinic at Sanford Health, will join the Manevia Forum as a panelist Oct. 28 at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. The two-day forum brings together the world’s greatest problem solvers dedicated to creating constructive dialogues and conversations around several topics.

The focus of the panel Dr. Garcia is participating in is titled: “Global Health Crisis and Increase in Mental Health Instability.”

“It is an honor to be invited to join this global forum to discuss proactive strategies for addressing mental health challenges, strengthening resiliency and improving the health and well-being our communities,” said Garcia. “It’s OK not to be OK and we should be open to talking and listening to others about mental health.”

Garcia has been with Sanford Health since 2002 and is a board-certified surgeon who specializes in advanced laparoscopic and bariatric surgeries. He is a strong advocate for Sanford Health in shaping health care policy and serves on several prominent industry boards and committees, including the International Esperanza Project, the American Medical Group Association, Leadership South Dakota and the Morrison Family College of Health.
