FARGO, N.D., July 21, 2020 — F-M Ambulance recently donated a retired ambulance vehicle to the Thief River Falls Police Department.

The Thief River Falls Police Department identified a need for a vehicle that could serve as a mobile command post or transport vehicle for traveling to emergency events.

“Through conversations with the city of Thief River Falls, it was brought to our attention that the police department was in need of a mobile command vehicle and we had an ideal asset that wasn’t being used,” said Brian Carlson, executive director of Sanford Thief River Falls. “This is another testament of Sanford’s commitment to the communities we serve.”

The ambulance will have the ability to store emergency supplies in a controlled environment, electric supply for laptops and other electronic devices and space for command staff and officers to meet to discuss deployment plans. The ambulance also includes emergency lights.

“An ambulance-style vehicle is exactly what our police department needed,” said Jaeger Bellows, Thief River Falls Police Department’s deputy chief of police. “The Thief River Falls Police Department would like to express our appreciation to Sanford Health for their consideration and willingness to provide a much needed asset.”

The mobile command unit will also allow the Thief River Falls Police Department to respond to mutual aid requests from other Minnesota law enforcement agencies and allow officers to safely and quickly deploy to areas of need.
