SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – South Dakota State University and the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay will square off in a men’s college basketball matchup at the Sanford Pentagon on Monday, Dec. 21. Game time and ticket information will be announced at a later date.

“South Dakota State and Green Bay are two outstanding programs with tremendous fan support in the upper Midwest,” said Jesse Smith, vice president of Sanford Sports. “This matchup is an excellent addition to our entire slate of games at the Sanford Pentagon and will provide a great start to the holiday season.”

Green Bay took a tremendous leap during the 2025-26 campaign, improving its win total by 14 games under then 2nd-year head coach Doug Gottlieb. The Phoenix went 18-15, reaching the 2nd round of the Horizon League Tournament. This will be Green Bay’s first appearance in Sioux Falls.

“I’ve played, coached, and broadcast from just about every arena in the country, but I have not experienced the Pentagon,” Coach Gottlieb said. “We have great respect for the Jackrabbits and know we are walking into a snake pit, but we want to challenge ourselves – South Dakota State and the Pentagon are just that.”

South Dakota State will be playing a game at the Sanford Pentagon for the 7th straight season. The Jackrabbits are 10-6 on Heritage Court since 2020 and are led by 2nd-year head coach Bryan Petersen.

“We are very excited for our game versus Green Bay in the Sanford Pentagon,” Coach Petersen said. “We always enjoy playing in the great city of Sioux Falls in front of our Jackrabbit fans. Green Bay is coming off a strong season under Coach Gottlieb. They’ve got their program going in the right direction and it’s one that is a quality, Midwest opponent. We’re really looking forward to the challenge and seeing all the SDSU blue in the Pentagon.”

This will be the fourth matchup between the Phoenix and Jackrabbits and the first since 2007. Green Bay is 3-0 all-time vs. South Dakota State.

The showdown between South Dakota State and Green Bay is the 10th Division I basketball matchup the Sanford Pentagon is set to host in the 2026-27 season. The Field of 68 Opening Day Marathon returns Nov. 2 featuring Murray State vs. Tennessee State and UTEP vs. Northern Kentucky in men’s basketball. Later that night, Iowa State and Memphis will square off in prime time. Nov. 11 features Creighton vs. South Dakota women, while Nov. 14 showcases two women’s matchups for the MarketBeat Invitational: Nebraska vs. Kansas and Minnesota vs. Kansas State.

The festivities continue later that weekend on Nov. 15 as Nebraska faces Boise State in men’s hoops. One week later, South Dakota takes on Utah Tech in a men’s matchup on Nov. 22, while the Thanksgiving holiday weekend features Minnesota vs. California in a men’s showdown on Nov. 28.

Sanford International included in new six-event competition

Aug. 5, 2026

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla., and ST. LOUIS, Mo. – PGA TOUR Champions and Compliance Solutions Inc. announced Wednesday a new six-event, points-based competition called the Sprint to St. Louis presented by Compliance Solutions.

The contest will span the final five events of the 2026 regular season (Sanford International, PURE Insurance Championship, Jefferson Lehigh Valley Classic, Constellation FURYK & FRIENDS, SAS Championship) and the first Charles Schwab Cup Playoffs event (Stifel Charity Classic).

The three highest Charles Schwab Cup Points earners among the final five regular-season events will be deemed finalists for the Sprint to St. Louis presented by Compliance Solutions. The three finalists will head to the Stifel Charity Classic in St. Louis, Missouri, with a chance to win the contest. The finalist with the best tournament finish at the Stifel Charity Classic will win the $200,000 prize.

The Sprint to St. Louis will also support a charitable cause through Folds of Honor, which helps provide educational scholarships to spouses and children of fallen or disabled military service members and first responders. One scholarship will be donated to a local recipient for each week the series is contested, comprising six scholarships in total.

Since its inception in 2007, Folds of Honor has provided about 73,000 academic scholarships valued at more than $340 million.

“We are pleased to expand our partnership with Compliance Solutions and introduce this exciting down-the-stretch competition within our season,” PGA TOUR Champions President Miller Brady said. “We appreciate Mark Lammert for helping make this new series possible for everyone involved. In addition to the golf contest, we are also excited for the impact that these Folds of Honor scholarships will have in each of these six cities.”

The Sprint to St. Louis is a multi-year agreement between Compliance Solutions and PGA TOUR Champions.

“Compliance Solutions Inc. is proud to sponsor the Sprint to St. Louis competition during the final stretch of the PGA TOUR Champions season,” Mark Lammert, Compliance Solutions Inc. founder and CEO, said. “The added appeal of a points race during the most important time of year will bring more attention and focus to the PGA TOUR Champions season-ending competition and these great players. The Sprint to St. Louis provides all competitors an equal opportunity for a fresh start, providing each player a platform to find their best form during September and October and contend for the title.

“My hope is the Sprint to St. Louis competition brings excitement, energy and opportunity to the Champions Tour as players battle for supremacy during the season’s final months,” Lammert added. “Perhaps a player who has experienced a challenging season will catch fire in September and October, win the Sprint to St. Louis and transform their year into a championship season. Rapid City, Sanford Health to partner on new sports complex

August 6, 2026

Rapid City Mayor Jason Salamun and Rapid City Sports Commission Executive Director Domico Rodriguez today announced a corporate partnership agreement with Sanford Health for naming recognition for the new community sports complex.

Mayor Salamun and Rodriquez were joined by Sanford officials this morning for the partnership agreement announcement. The brief ceremony was held on a strip of frontage land along E. Mall Drive overlooking a 22-acre parcel of land that was recently donated by Pete Lien & Sons and approved by the Rapid City Common Council to serve as the future location for the multi-purpose sports complex.

“I am pleased to announce that Sanford Health will serve as our premier partner, including holding the naming recognition for Rapid City’s new sports complex,” said Rapid City Mayor Jason Salamun. “This partnership brings valuable experience and a shared commitment to creating a first-class facility that will serve our youth, residents, and visitors for generations to come.”

The $10 million, 20-year partnership with Sanford Health begins in 2027. The investment will support the new sports complex facility and operations, and provides Sanford with naming recognition for the sports complex and a dedicated space within the complex for use by Sanford for sports medicine, sports academy and sports performance activities, among other recognition rights and privileges.

On most days, these 22 acres of prairie grassland in northern Rapid City sits quiet except for brisk breezes of South Dakota winds and the plodding of nearby cattle herds. In a few years, a large complex will tower over the area, home to numerous competitive and recreational events. Officials are hoping to break ground this fall and get dirt moving for the facility that is set to open by 2029.

The naming rights agreement is the latest in a number of iconic sports, community and regional facilities with the Sanford brand. Sanford has been involved in athletic development for more than 25 years. These efforts include operating the 500-acre Sanford Sports Complex in Sioux Falls and partnering on the 400,000-square foot Fargo Parks Sports Center at the Sanford Sports Complex in Fargo, ND.

“Sanford Health is proud to partner with the City of Rapid City on this historic investment in health, sports and community,” said Kyle Wiese, Sanford Black Hills President and CEO. “When Sanford Health expanded into the Black Hills, we made a commitment to meaningfully invest in the people and communities we serve. This partnership is another example of keeping that promise. Thank you to the City of Rapid City and all those who helped bring this vision to life.”

Sanford Sports operates sports performance, sports academy and sports events in South Dakota, North Dakota and Minnesota. Annually, Sanford Sports has more than one million athlete contacts, runs more than 250 club teams and hosts nearly 100 tournaments and spectator events ranging from youth and high school to major college and professional.

“Sanford’s investment into the complex will help benefit Rapid City and our athletes for the next generation,” said Domico Rodriguez, Rapid City Sports Commission Executive Director. “They have been extremely successful in the Sioux Falls and Fargo markets, and we are excited to partner with them on this project.”

Last month, the Rapid City Council approved an agreement between Pete Lien & Sons and the City of Rapid City for the donation of 22.65 acres of land located between East Mall Drive, Seger Drive, North Lacrosse Street and Tish Boulevard. At the July 20 meeting, the Council also approved a contract with TSP, Inc. to serve as architect for the project and an agreement with Sports Facilities Management LLC to serve as manager for the facility once it is constructed.

Next week, the City’s Legal and Finance Committee will consider the naming recognition agreement as well as an agreement with Scull Construction Service, Inc. to serve as construction manager at risk for the project.

FARGO, N.D. – Sanford Fargo has received the American Heart Association’s Get With The Guidelines® – Stroke Gold Plus quality achievement award for its commitment to ensuring people experiencing stroke receive timely, appropriate treatment based on nationally recognized, research-based guidelines, ultimately helping to save lives and reduce disability.

Stroke is the No. 4 cause of death and a leading cause of disability in the U.S, according to the American Heart Association’s 2026 Heart Disease and Stroke Statistics Report. A stroke occurs when a blood vessel supplying the brain is blocked by a clot or ruptures, preventing blood and oxygen from reaching brain tissue. When this happens, brain cells begin to die. Early detection and rapid treatment are critical to improving survival, minimizing disability and supporting faster recovery.

Get With The Guidelines brings the expertise of the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association into hospitals nationwide, helping ensure patient care is aligned with the latest research- and evidence-based guidelines. Get With The Guidelines – Stroke is an in-hospital program designed to improve stroke care through consistent adherence to these guidelines, which can minimize long-term effects of stroke and help prevent death.

“We are extremely proud to be recognized for our state-of-the-art stroke program at Sanford Fargo,” said Dr. Michael Manchak, Sanford Fargo medical director of the stroke program. “When it comes to diagnosis and treatment for strokes, every second is vital. Our team works quickly and collaboratively to ensure stroke patients receive a timely diagnosis and treatment, which helps lead to more successful outcomes. We remain committed to providing this world-class service close to home.”

Each year, participating hospitals qualify for the award by demonstrating how their organization has committed to providing quality stroke care. In addition to following clinical treatment guidelines, Get With The Guidelines participants also provide education to help people manage their recovery and ongoing health at home.

Sanford Fargo also received the American Heart Association’s Target: Stroke Honor Roll Elite Plus award. To qualify for this recognition, hospitals must meet specific criteria that reduce the time between an eligible patient’s arrival at the hospital and treatment with thrombolytic therapy.

In addition, Sanford Fargo received the American Heart Association’s Target: Stroke Honor Roll Advanced Therapy award by meeting specific criteria that reduce the time between an eligible patient’s arrival at the hospital and treatment to remove the clot causing the stroke.

Sanford Fargo also received the American Heart Association’s Target: Type 2 Diabetes™ Honor Roll award. Target: Type 2 Diabetes aims to ensure patients with Type 2 diabetes, who might be at higher risk for complications, receive the most up-to-date, evidence-based care when hospitalized due to stroke.
