Good Samaritan — the nation’s largest non-profit provider of senior care and services — will advocate for solutions that advance quality care and strengthen the long-term care workforce. Leaders will meet with elected officials at the 2025 American Health Care Association/National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL) Congressional Briefing June 9-11 on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C.
The invite-only congressional briefing provides AHCA/NCAL members the opportunity to connect with elected officials, gain insight into the latest legislative and policy developments and collaborate with other industry leaders.
Good Samaritan leaders will share how through the Sanford Accountability For Excellence, or SAFE, program, caregivers are empowered to speak up, raise their concerns and understand the positive impact of their actions. Accountability, communication and transparency are key components of SAFE, which is further enhancing the culture of safety and trust in Good Samaritan’s long-term care centers.
Leaders will also advocate for policies, like the Healthcare Workforce Resilience Act which would help build the nursing workforce by tapping into the pipeline of internationally trained nurses.
“Now is the time to advance meaningful, common-sense policy solutions that strengthen and modernize care delivery in rural nursing homes across America’s heartland,” said Nate Schema, Good Samaritan president and CEO. “It is a privilege to advocate for our nation’s seniors and caregivers. We look forward to collaborating with members of Congress as we work toward our shared goal: enhancing safety and quality care for the residents who place their trust in us.”
