The Evangelical Lutheran Good Samaritan Society – the nation’s largest not-for-profit provider of senior care and services – will share insights on delivering high quality care to seniors at the 2024 American Health Care Association/National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL) Conference for CEOs and Executive Leaders Nov. 13 in Austin, Texas.
The conference will feature in-depth discussions with CEOs of leading long-term care organizations exploring their journeys and unwavering commitment to excellence.
Good Samaritan Society president and CEO Nate Schema has been invited to take part in a panel discussion titled “Excellence in Survey” moderated by AHCA/NCAL Chief Medical Officer Dr. David Gifford. Schema will be joined on the panel by executives from American Senior Care and Carespring Health Care Management.
Schema will share how the Good Samaritan Society has demonstrated an ongoing commitment to quality care delivery and continuous improvement through mock surveys, staff training and communication and a culture of safety through a systemwide initiative known as Sanford Accountability For Excellence, or SAFE.
“SAFE has moved the needle by strengthening trust and transparency across our organization, building more resilient and empowered teams and improving care outcomes,” said Schema. “Our quality and strategy team has conducted leader and employee interviews to better understand the root causes of preventable serious safety events and equip employees and leaders with the relationship skills and tools to support them in challenging scenarios. High-reliability experts visit our teams to focus on integrating these tools and skills into our team’s culture.”
SAFE focuses on empowering teams to speak up, raise concerns and understand the positive impact of their actions. The Good Samaritan Society, part of Sanford Health’s integrated health system, has been enhancing its culture of safety through the high-reliability program.
