Sanford Medical Center Fargo set to open end of July 2017

While construction continues at the site of the new $494 million Sanford Medical Center Fargo, planning teams have narrowed in on an opening date for the hospital which is one year away: end of July 2017.

Exterior work, such as parking lots and landscaping, will finish in fall of 2016. Interior construction continues to span various stages from final finishes like paint and tile to basic construction like drywall and electrical. The medical center’s construction remains on budget and on schedule to finish in early 2017.

“Over the past years as Sanford and the community have watched this project transform from a groundbreaking to a steel structure to now an almost-complete medical center, we’ve had the unique opportunity to watch history being made,” said Paul Richard, Sanford Fargo Executive Vice President. “This hospital was created not just for the health needs of today, but for the next 100 years as our region continues to grow and prosper.”

Prior to opening in July 2017 for patient care, the months between construction finish and opening will be dedicated to outfitting the hospital with medical equipment, supplies and furniture, as well as allowing time to train staff in the new facility.

“When we open our doors to our first patients in July 2017, this building will transform from what we’ve known as a construction project to a state-of-the-art medical center. We will welcome new lives in our family birth center, work to save lives of those affected by trauma, treat the ill and care for even our smallest patients in the Children’s Hospital,” Richard added.

Public open houses and tours will be held in June 2017. Sanford will share details of those events as the date draws closer.
