Sanford Health to offer expanded walk-in care

Sanford Health now offers patients with unexpected medical needs the ability to see a provider on the same day without an appointment.  Sanford now offers walk-in services at family medicine and children’s clinics in Sioux Falls.

All day walk-in hours are 8 a.m.-5 p.m. on weekdays with acute care hours from 5-9 p.m.  Additionally, weekend acute care hours are to 8 a.m.-7 p.m.

“We’re always looking for new ways to better serve our patients,” said Clayton Van Balen, M.D., enterprise medical director of employee health services for Sanford Health and acute care physician.  “Offering all day walk-in services, acute care hours and our electronic resources ensure that patients can be seen whenever that unexpected illness or injuries occurs.”

Walk in and acute care services are best for patients who are experiencing new, non-emergency needs like fevers, flu-like symptoms, cuts and minor injuries.  For medical emergencies such as chest pain, numbness or a fever greater than 104, the emergency department or 911 is the best choice.

Patients can also use My Sanford Chart to stay in touch with their care team, as well as video visits and e-visits.  Patients are also encouraged to use the newly launched SanfordWalkIn.com to check on wait times at locations throughout the area.
