Giddy up for Cowboy Up Ride Against Cancer

Giddy up for Cowboy Up Ride Against Cancer

For one weekend every August, this little town welcomes hundreds of horseback riders for the Cowboy Up Ride Against Cancer, which is located in McLeod. You can find McLeod, North Dakota, in the heart of the Sheyenne National Grasslands, about 50 minutes southwest of Fargo, North Dakota.

What is Cowboy Up Ride Against Cancer?

This event is filled with family-friendly activities to support patients at Roger Maris Cancer Center. Events include a silent auction, a Cowboy Up bake sale, a scavenger hunt and many more options. All donations raised at the Cowboy Up Ride Against Cancer go directly to the Roger Maris Cancer Center.

Save the date

This year, the 14th annual main event is Aug. 17-19, and everyone is invited to all the family-friendly activities.

One of the people taking part is Heather Sagvold, who’s passionate about raising funds for patients at Roger Maris Cancer Center in Fargo. Sagvold is dedicated to the cause because she’s a cancer survivor herself, a McLeod resident and a Cowboy Up committee member.

“At Cowboy Up, we remember those who have been taken from us,” Sagvold said. “With each other in this beautiful setting of rolling hills, blue skies, wispy clouds and waving prairie grass, we can take a moment to remember those with us here today in spirit and those taken from us far too soon.”
