Sanford Worthington gets national quality leadership award

WORTHINGTON, Minn., Nov. 20, 2017 — Sanford Worthington Medical Center is one of just eight community hospitals across the nation to receive the Bernard A. Birnbaum, M.D., Quality Leadership Award.

The award is given annually to academic medical center and community hospital members that demonstrate superior performance, as measured by the Vizient Quality and Accountability Study, which has been conducted annually since 2005. Recipients demonstrate exceptional performance based on a variety of metrics and data sources such as clinical data base, core measures and HCAHPS scores.

“Awards like this are more than a plaque to hang on a wall,” said Jennifer Weg, executive director for Sanford Worthington. “This is affirmation of the hard work and quality care offered by the entire staff at Sanford Worthington. We’re always proud of the high quality care we offer close to home for all of our patients.”

The award was presented to Sanford Health representatives at a ceremony in Denver, Colorado.  A full list of recipients is available online.

A local award ceremony was held on Nov. 20.
