FARGO, N.D. – Sanford Health staff were recognized for their unwavering dedication to providing excellent care for their patients and communities during Sanford Health’s Recognition event this month. Each year, Sanford employees are encouraged to nominate their colleagues to be recognized for the remarkable work they do each day for their patients and communities.

Tashana Sedler, ADN, RN and Teresa Pearson, LPN received the Florence Nightingale award and Sandee Moderow, medical assistant, received the Friend of Nursing award during the Sanford Health nurse’s week celebration this month.

The prestigious Florence Nightingale award recognizes nurses for outstanding involvement in the practice of the art and science of nursing – as evidenced by strength of character, commitment and competence that has been recognized by their peers as an outstanding asset to the community, nursing profession and the Sanford Health organization.

The Friend of Nursing award recognizes an individual who is not a nurse, but has helped the profession of nursing, and demonstrated significant contributions to the nursing profession and to the work environment of the health care team.

“I’m incredibly proud of these women for representing the nursing and healthcare profession in such a significant way.” Said Brittany Jaehning, Sanford Wahpeton clinic director. “They not only provide exceptional care for their patients, but serve as an amazing example to others in the profession to look up to.”

The Nurses Recognition Event is an annual event for Sanford Health. This year’s event, held at the Delta Hotel in Fargo, North Dakota, honored nurses and other health care professionals in nine categories.  A record 529 nominations were submitted for 2022 honors, including 130 nominations for the Florence Nightingale award.

National Nurses Week is acknowledged by health care organizations and the American Nurses Association annually.
