Sanford Sports to create Black Hills home at E3

RAPID CITY, S.D. — Sanford Sports will establish a new home in Rapid City through the acquisition of the E3 Sports Complex, creating a dedicated location for youth sports programming, sports performance training and sports physical therapy services in the Black Hills region.
E3 Sports Complex is a 35,000-square-foot indoor training facility located at 955 E. North St., Suite 150. The venue is expected to begin operating as Sanford Sports beginning in early September and will serve as the organization’s home in Rapid City until the opening of the new community sports complex currently planned for 2029.
“We did not want to wait to bring Sanford Sports to the Black Hills. This is the ideal scenario where academies, performance and sports therapy can come to our community now and under one roof,” said Kyle Wiese, president and CEO, Sanford Black Hills. “We are excited to transform the E3 location into the premier place for athletes.”
The building will house both Sanford Sports Academy and Sanford Sports Performance programs. Sanford Sports Academy plans to begin basketball and volleyball programming this fall, while golf programming is anticipated to launch Jan. 1, 2027, following completion of facility improvements. Sanford Sports Performance will offer strength and conditioning services and sports physical therapy at the facility, with programming expected to begin in early 2027 after construction updates are completed.

The acquisition of E3 expands Sanford Sports’ presence in western South Dakota and provides athletes, families and coaches with increased access to training, development and performance services closer to home. The facility will serve athletes of all ages and skill levels while supporting the organization’s long-term commitment to growing sports opportunities throughout the Black Hills region.
