SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — In an unprecedented achievement, the Sanford Sports Academy’s boys basketball 17U, 16U and 15U teams have been invited to join the UA Rise Circuit, which is part of the Under Armour Next Platform. This marks the first time a club basketball team from the Dakotas has been chosen to participate in a shoe-affiliated league.

UA Rise is a complimentary circuit to the Under Armour Next Platform, focused on high-level competition and exposure to college coaches as its core purpose. The league consists of 48 teams at each age group: 17U, 16U, and 15U. Each team plays a 12-game regular season leading in to a single-elimination championship bracket to crown the UA Rise Champion.

“This is a huge step forward for basketball in the Dakotas when it comes to bringing increased exposure and opportunities for our talented athletes,” said Freddy Coleman, Sanford Sports Academy basketball manager. “This is exactly the opportunity we envisioned when the Pentagon and SD Attack teams combined, and I want to thank UA for the chance to compete against these other great programs from across the country.”

Dates and location of the circuit will be determined later.

About the Sanford Pentagon

The cornerstone of the Sanford Sports Complex in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, is the Sanford Pentagon, a 160,000-square-foot, five-sided facility featuring nine basketball courts, including the 1950s/1960s-inspired Heritage Court. The venue combines state-of-the-art amenities—including high-definition video boards and executive suites—with period-specific finishes that are a nod to the nostalgic days of basketball.

The 3,200-seat Pentagon is home to Sanford POWER Basketball Academy, Sanford POWER Volleyball Academy, the NBA G League’s Sioux Falls Skyforce, Augustana men’s and women’s basketball, the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Women’s and Men’s Basketball tournaments and the South Dakota High School Basketball Hall of Fame.
