SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — Luis Garcia, M.D., FACS, MBA, president of clinic at Sanford Health, will join the HealthLeaders The Way Forward Leadership Summit as a panelist Oct. 20-21 in Atlanta, Georgia. The two-day summit brings together 30 health system leaders – CEOs, CFOs, CMOs, CNOs and CIOs – to discuss strategies for navigating the current challenges facing health systems and the way forward.

The Way Forward will be the most widely distributed piece of content HealthLeaders has published.

Garcia has been invited to join a roundtable discussion with clinical leaders from health systems across the country including Jordan Asher, M.D., EVP & chief physician executive for Sentara Healthcare, Hoda Asmar, M.D., EVP and system CMO for Providence, Eric Eskioğlu, M.D., EVP and chief medical & scientific officer for Novant Health and Janet Tomcavage, EVP and chief nursing executive for Geisinger Health.

The roundtable will provide an opportunity for clinical leaders to share insights on a range of topics including how systems are partnering on population health initiatives, recruitment and retention strategies, investments in digital health and new care delivery models.

“It is an honor to join such accomplished and respected health care leaders to discuss solutions for the challenges we are all facing,” said Garcia. “I am proud of the journey Sanford Health is continuously on to transform the health care experience and provide access to world-class care for our patients.”

As the president of Sanford Health’s clinic division, Garcia oversees governance, recruitment and retention, clinician well-being initiatives and development and overall clinic integration for physicians and advanced practice providers.

Garcia has been with Sanford Health since 2002 and is a board-certified surgeon who specializes in advanced laparoscopic and bariatric surgeries. He is a strong advocate for Sanford Health in shaping health care policy and serves on several prominent industry boards and committees, including the International Esperanza Project, the American Medical Group Association, Leadership South Dakota and the Morrison Family College of Health.
