SIOUX FALLS, S.D., April 2, 2021 – Beginning Monday, April 5, Sanford Health COVID-19 vaccination clinics in South Dakota will begin offering appointments for COVID-19 vaccinations to patients age 16 and older. The decision follows an announcement from the South Dakota Department of Health allowing access to individuals in the Phase 2 category.

South Dakota residents will be able to view all open times and schedule their own appointments through My Sanford Chart or on sanfordhealth.org. If no appointment times are open, they can still request to be notified when a dose is available. For patients ages 16 and 17, please call 1-877-701-0779 for vaccination options.

Those who aren’t Sanford patients or do not have a My Sanford Chart account can complete the vaccine request form on sanfordhealth.org. In both cases, requestors will be contacted with an appointment time. To enroll in My Sanford Chart, visit mysanfordchart.org.

Patients will be observed on-site for 15 minutes after receiving their COVID-19 vaccine. The most common side effects are injection site pain, soreness and swelling.

If you have general questions about the COVID-19 vaccine, please call the My Sanford Nurse line at 800-445-5788. My Sanford Nurse is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

For more information on the COVID-19 vaccine, visit sanfordhealth.org and the CDC.
