Sanford Mayville named a ‘Top Critical Access Hospital’

MAYVILLE, N.D. – Sanford Mayville Medical Center has been recognized as one of the top 20 critical access hospitals (CAHs) in the country.
The top 20 CAHs, scored best among CAHs as determined by The Chartis Center for Rural Health for CAHs. The rankings were recently announced by the National Rural Health Association (NRHA).

This accolade is only possible because of the incredible men and women who dedicate their time each and every day, ensuring our community has access to critical, life-saving health care services.”
The top 20 CAHs have achieved success in overall performance based on a composite rating from eight indices of strength: inpatient market share, outpatient market share, quality, outcomes, patient perspective, cost, charge and finance. This group was selected from The Chartis Center for Rural Health’s 2023 top 100 CAH list, which was released earlier this year.
This annual recognition program honors outstanding performance among the nation’s rural hospitals based on the results of The Chartis Rural Hospital Performance INDEX™. Now in its 13th year, the INDEX has established itself as the industry’s most comprehensive and objective assessment of rural hospital performance. Leveraging publicly available data, the INDEX is trusted by rural hospitals, health systems with rural affiliates, hospital associations and state offices of rural health across the country to measure and monitor performance across a variety of areas impacting hospital operations and finance.
Sanford medical centers in Thief River Falls, Minn. and Vermillion, S.D. earned the “Top 100 Critical Access Hospital” distinction.
