MAYVILLE, N.D. — Sanford Health Fargo’s nurses and staff were recognized for their unwavering dedication to providing excellent care for their patients and communities during Sanford’s Nursing Recognition Event this month. Each year, Sanford employees are encouraged to nominate their colleagues to be recognized for the remarkable work they do each day for their patients and communities.

Joan Becker, occupational therapist at Sanford Mayville, received the Friend of Nursing Award. The award recognizes non-nurses who have supported the nursing profession and the professional practice of nursing, and recognizes the value of nursing to the patients we serve, the organization and our community.

“Joan’s collaborative relationship between disciplines has not only benefited the nursing practice, but has also been felt by our patients,” said Jac McTaggart, senior director, Sanford Mayville. “Joan’s advocacy, encouragement and support for our nurses empowers them to provide exceptional care to our community.”

The Nursing Recognition Event is an annual event for Sanford Health. This year’s event, held at the Delta Hotel in Fargo, North Dakota on May 11, honored nurses and other health care professionals in eight categories. A record number of 717 nominations were submitted for 2023 honors.

National Nurses Week is acknowledged by health care organizations and the American Nurses Association annually.
