Sanford Health to host World Scientific Congress of Golf

ORLANDO, Fla. -– Golf Science has selected Sanford Health to host the 10th World Scientific Congress of Golf 2021 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

The conference is scheduled for September 2021. Presentations, workshops and keynote addresses centered on golf science and research will take place throughout the Sanford Health campus including Great Shots and the Sanford Sports Science Institute Golf Research Lab in the Sanford POWER Golf Academy at Great Shots.

Leaders from Sanford Health and the Sanford Sports Science Institute will present at the conference and share their state-of-the art lab and teaching facilities with presenters from around the world.

“Golf Science has done an incredible job of bringing the top minds in golf science and education together with golf professionals and enthusiasts to translate the latest research and technology to practice, and it is an honor to host this prestigious conference,” said Lisa MacFadden, Ph.D., director of the Sanford Sports Science Institute. “We are excited to welcome the WSCG to Sioux Falls and show the world the incredible research in golf taking place at Sanford Health.”

The World Scientific Congress of Golf was founded in Scotland in 1990 to bring together researchers, professionals, and interested golfers in the areas of the golfer, the golf course, and equipment and technology.

Committed to golf

Previous conferences have been in St Andrews, Scotland; Phoenix, Arizona; the Gold Coast in Australia and most recently in Abbotsford, Canada.

The addition of the World Scientific Congress of Golf strengthens Sanford Health’s dedication to the game. Sanford Health is the title sponsor of the Sanford International, a PGA TOUR Champions tournament. Great Shots, a golf-entertainment facility is scheduled to open this fall at the Sanford Sports Complex. The Sanford POWER Golf Academy is a comprehensive golf program that brings together skill work with sports science, physical therapy and strength and conditioning. The Sanford Golf Junior Tour is a summer tournament series for high school and college golfers.

Golf Science is a not-for-profit organization that, since 1990, has contributed to the development golf science through open access peer reviewed research publications, research based conferences and knowledge sharing. The mission of Golf Science is to stimulate research and application among researchers, professionals, and interested individuals in the game of golf.

Golf Science will host scientific meetings, disseminate research in the form of a scientific journal, and apply research findings in various formats to educate golfers and interested individuals. The World Science Congress of Golf is the cornerstone of Golf Science and future hosts must ensure the WSCG aligns with our mission.
