Sanford Health Bismarck welcomes new neurosurgeon

BISMARCK, N.D. (Feb. 23, 2022)Artur Szymczak, MD, recently joined the neurosurgery team at Sanford Health in Bismarck. As the region’s only fellowship trained pediatric neurosurgeon in the region, Dr. Szymczak provides expert care for adult and pediatric patients. He specializes in evaluating, diagnosing and treating conditions of the brain.

“We are excited to welcome Dr. Szymczak to the Bismarck region and offer more treatment options for patients with medical conditions or injuries that affects the brain and nervous system,” said Mike Salwei, executive director of neurosciences. “We are continuing to build our neurology program and bring resources to Bismarck-Mandan to meet the needs of the communities we serve.”

Dr. Szymczak is now seeing patients at the Sanford Clinic, 222 N. Seventh St., Bismarck.

Dr. Szymczak received his doctorate from the University of Alberta, completed his neurosurgery residency program at the University of Western Ontario, and completed his pediatric neurosurgery fellowship at the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. Most recently, he worked as a pediatric and adult neurosurgeon at Mercy Health Physicians Brain and Spine Center in Rockford, Illinois.
