SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — The Sanford Cancer Center and the Edith Sanford Breast Center have been designated as an American College of Surgeons (ACS) Surgical Quality Partner. This prestigious distinction is given to institutions dedicated to maintaining the highest standards in surgical care.

Sanford Health is accredited by the National Accreditation from the ACS’s Commission on Cancer (CoC) and the ACS’s National Accreditation Program for Breast Cancer (NAPBC). This dual accreditation demonstrates Sanford’s commitment to improving cancer care across the continuum, no matter the diagnosis.

“We are honored to earn the designation as an ACS Surgical Quality Partner. This signifies our dedication to consistently improving procedures and approaches, while maintaining a critical eye on process at every step of a patient’s cancer journey,” said Kathy Schuler, executive director of surgery for Sanford Sioux Falls. “Patients can trust that the care they receive at Sanford Cancer Center adheres to the most rigorous standards in surgical quality.”

“ACS Quality programs are grounded in more than a century of experience and participation is an important measure of a hospital’s surgical quality. As an ACS Surgical Quality Partner, Sanford Cancer Center has shown a commitment to providing the best possible patient care, evaluating that care in a rigorous fashion and dedicating themselves to continuous self-improvement,” said ACS Executive Director & Chief Executive Officer Patricia L. Turner, MD, MBA, FACS.
