Sanford Bismarck surgeon completes 1,000 robotic surgeries

BISMARCK, N.D. (Jan. 11)Joshua Knudson, M.D., is the first general surgeon in North Dakota to perform more than 1,000 robotic-assisted surgeries with the DaVinci Surgical System. Dr. Knudson completed this milestone in four years.

“Dr. Knudson’s expertise extends to the forefront of surgical technology,” said Jacqueline Farland, executive director of surgical services. “His commitment to innovation and excellence in surgery has not only set a new standard in North Dakota but also earned him this prestigious industry recognition.”

Specializing in minimally invasive and robotic surgery, Dr. Knudson’s practice involves a wide range of general surgery patients. The Sanford Broadway Same Day Surgery Center will soon offer same-day hernia, gallbladder and hysterectomy robotic surgeries.

Dr. Knudson received his medical degree from the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Sciences in Grand Forks, North Dakota, and is certified by the American Board of Surgery. He also serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery for the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Sciences.
