Sanford Ambulance paramedic receives prestigious EMS award

THIEF RIVER FALLS, Minn. – Tim Cook, a 13-year veteran paramedic with Sanford Ambulance in Thief River Falls, has been awarded the prestigious Minnesota Star of Life Award from the Minnesota Ambulance Association (MAA). Cook was presented with the honor on Thursday, March 23, at the State Capitol in St. Paul, Minn.
The Star of Life award is the highest honor an emergency medical service (EMS) professional can receive and recognizes the dedication of ambulance service professionals across the state of Minnesota.
Cook was honored for his continued dedication and support to the EMS profession and the citizens of Pennington County, Minn. as a paramedic and CPR and first aid educator. Cook has been vital in hosting blood drives, organizing community outreach events and coordinating mock car crash scenarios as part of the Minnesota to Zero Deaths (TZD) campaign each year. In 2021, he was the recipient of the TZD Emergency Medical and Trauma Services Star Award recipient.
“Tim is a brilliant example of a dedicated EMS professional. He has made a positive impact in his community and the lives of his coworkers and patients he has served throughout his career,” said Tim Meyer, senior director, Sanford Ambulance.
The MAA represents ambulance services serving across the state of Minnesota since 1960 by promoting EMS in general welfare, informing and educating the public, conducting research, disseminating reliable information and data to members and creating a fraternal organization among its members.
