FARGO, N.D.Sanford Ambulance is offering a unique opportunity for five individuals interested in becoming a paramedic through a new, paid paramedic apprenticeship program.

The apprenticeship program provides paid tuition, books and uniforms for the student while they progress through the nationally registered paramedic program at North Dakota State College of Science. Apprentices will earn wages and benefits as Sanford Health employees during the program. Upon graduation, apprentices will continue to work as full time paramedics for Sanford Health for a period of three years. The apprenticeship is open to anyone who meets Sanford Health employment requirements, is at least 18 years of age and is eligible to register with North Dakota State College of Science.

“Recruiting emergency medical personnel is a challenge many ambulance organizations are experiencing, including Sanford Ambulance,” says Tim Meyer, director of Sanford Ambulance. “We hope this paid apprenticeship program interests more people to think about a career in emergency medical services, as well as ease the financial burden that may deter some from pursuing their dream.”

Those interested in applying for the paramedic apprenticeship can apply online until May 12.
