FARGO, N.D. – The sixth annual Roger Maris All-Star Week raised over $1 million for cancer care.
100% of funds raised during Roger Maris All-Star Week support Sanford Roger Maris Cancer Center’s continued investment and expansion as a national destination for cancer research, treatment, education and training. In October 2021, Sanford Fargo launched the region’s first and only Bone Marrow Transplant Program.
Funds raised during Roger Maris All-Star Week also helps support the Peltier Lodge, a 28,400-square-foot facility that will feature spaces to support patients and loved ones during treatment and throughout their outpatient care and monitoring. For patients and loved ones, cancer treatment and outpatient care can take a toll – physically, emotionally and financially. The Peltier Lodge will help ease these burdens for cancer patients and their families, offering a state-of-the-art home like retreat for comfort and healing. The Peltier Lodge is estimated to open summer of 2027.
“We are incredibly grateful for the generosity of our donors and community partners who helped us surpass $1 million in philanthropic support during this year’s Roger Maris All-Star Week,” said Amy Hinkemeyer, Sanford Health Fargo Foundation vice president. “Funds raised during all-star week help transform projects like the Peltier Lodge from a dream to a reality. Together, we are helping ensure the Sanford Roger Maris Cancer Center remains a leading destination for cancer treatment and support.”
Roger Maris All-Star Week was created to support the work happening at the cancer center, honor loved ones, friends and neighbors affected by cancer, promote Roger’s passion for fitness and youth sports and celebrate the enduring legacy of hometown hero, Roger Maris.
