SIOUX FALLS, S.D., Sept. 8, 2020 — Results Radio is teaming up with Cure Kids Cancer for the 13th annual Cure Kids Cancer Radiothon presented by Jerry’s Auto. Proceeds from the event will benefit Cure Kids Cancer, an initiative to assist the children who fighting cancer at Sanford Children’s Hospital in Sioux Falls.

The event is 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 17-18. The 24-hour event is live on 97.3 KKRC, Hot 104.7, B102.7, KIKN 100.5 and KXRB 100.1, sharing stories of local pediatric cancer patients, their families and the staff that serves them at the Castle of Care. Last year’s event raised more than $367,000.

Broadcast hosts will introduce listeners to the following children and their courageous families:

More than 11,000 children will be diagnosed with various forms of cancer this year; and instead of chasing butterflies, these children will be learning about the serious experiences of surgery, chemotherapy, radiation and hospital or clinic visits. Cancer is a devastating disease — especially in children. It changes dramatically the lives of entire families and often affects them for many years.

Despite the remarkable advances in treatment, cancer is the leading cause of death in children under age 15, second only to accidents. World-class physicians and researchers in children’s hospitals lead the effort to help children with cancer by providing the most sophisticated treatments available and conducting research that has resulted in advanced treatments and cures for some childhood cancer.

Cure Kids Cancer works with radio stations, corporate partners and other local supporters to raise funds and public awareness for pediatric cancer centers, like the one found at Sanford Children’s Hospital, in order to help keep kids with cancer as close to home as possible.
