FARGO, N.D. – Sanford Health nurses were recognized for their unwavering dedication to providing excellent care for their patients and communities during Sanford Health’s Nurse’s Week celebration this month. Each year, Sanford employees are encouraged to nominate their colleagues to be recognized for the remarkable work they do each day for their patients and communities.

Marie Riemer, RN, a manager of inpatient services at the Sanford Hillsboro Medical Center, received the Transformational Leadership Award during the Sanford Health nurse’s week celebration this month.

The Transformational Leadership Award recognizes a registered nurse who is knowledgeable, transformational formal or informal leader who develops a strong vision, well-articulated philosophy, and professional practice and communicates expectations, develops leaders, and evolves the department to meet current and anticipated needs and strategic priority while conveying a strong sense of advocacy and support on behalf of staff and patients.

“Marie is an exceptional leader who has developed a strong vision for us to treat our community as family and ensure quality care is provided to each and every patient,” remarked Melissa Mostad, director of nursing and clinical services for Sanford Hillsboro and Mayville. “She has built a culture in the hospital nursing department of not only a team with a common goal, but also a family.”

The nurse’s week celebration is an annual event for Sanford Health. This year’s event, held at the Delta Hotel in Fargo, North Dakota, honored nurses and other health care professionals in nine categories.  A record 529 nominations were submitted for 2022 honors.

National Nurses Week is acknowledged by health care organizations and the American Nurses Association annually.
