SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Sanford Sports Academy has named former professional pitcher Blake Svoboda a sports academy specialist with an emphasis on baseball. He will assist Coach Steve Phillips and support youth camps, clinics and the Sanford Sports 10U-14U baseball teams.

Svoboda played collegiately at Mount Marty University and has two years of professional experience with the Sioux Falls Canaries and MLB Draft League.

“Blake’s first-hand knowledge of the game from playing and coaching is a great addition to our Sports Academy roster,” said Todd Kolb, director of the Sanford Sports Academy. “We are excited for the advanced teaching he is going to be able to provide the young athletes who are part of our academy and the growth we will see in their game.”

The exercise science major has five years of coaching experience. Prior to joining the Sanford Sports Academy, Svoboda was a strength and conditioning coach with Sanford Sports Performance in Sioux Falls.
